MGL U-13A: Cabinteely takes WFAI Plate
On Sunday, Cabo U-13As won the plate competition in the WFAI All-Ireland blitz at the AUL Complex, Clonshaugh.

With only one team going through to the cup semis from each group, a 1-0 loss in the first game left Cabo runners-up in their group of four and into the plate competition against the other second place teams. They improved as the day went and eventually wrapped up the plate in fine style!

All the sixteen participating teams from across the four provinces were strong – some good future prospects there for the Irish team.

Cabinteely lost their opening game 1-0 to Cregmore-Claregalway FC, after their customary slow start. In the other two games in the group they beat Lakewood Athletic FC (Cork) 2-1 with goals from Nadine and Niamh and drew 1-1 with Greencastle FC of Donegal, who themselves were runners up in the cup final to Shelbourne FC. Bobbi scored the goal in that game.

In the afternoon, the Cabo girls changed formation and turned on the style in the plate semi-final to beat Listowel Celtic FC 3-1 with two goals from Amy and one from Nadine. They were equally on top in the final and ran out 3-0 winners against Ballinrobe Town FC with goals from Molly, Robin and Nadine.
