Well done to Jason on his FAI U-16 player of the year!
Hopefully, you’ll have seen former Cabo player Jason Knight accepting his 2017 FAI U-16 International Player of the Year award.

Congratulations to Jason, who has been enjoying himself while working hard in the Derby County FC Academy since leaving Cabo.

Congratulations also go to former Cabo player Max Murphy (left, below)  who was also nominated for the U-16 award.

Jason and Max both progressed from our Cabinteely FC Junior Academy which started in 2008 with our 2001 age group. This saw Coerver Coaching deliver structured academy coaching to our players and coaches through former Head Coach Andy Rice (Andy has developed seven international schoolboy players including Jason’s brother Kevin).

This resulted in Cabinteely FC achieving DDSL Premier and Major level for all our 11-a-side teams and paving the way for the current success of Jason and Max and also providing the foundation for our current players and under-age League of Ireland teams. Long may this progress continue.

Obviously, both Jason and Max are great footballing role models for our current Cabo FC academy players and we hope that some of them can follow in the boots of Jason and Max.

Jason hasn’t forgotten his roots and can be seen helping out at our Mini World Cups and supporting our League of Ireland team when he’s home. Well done to both.

Jason and Max are both now progressing their footballing careers with Derby County FC and Stoke City FC respectively and are also regular internationals with the Republic of Ireland U-17s.

Alongside appearing for Derby’s U-18 Academy team, Jason has also made a number of appearances in the Derby County U-23s squad. Do also check out Derby’s website’s reaction to Jason’s award.

That certainly won’t be Jason’s last such award as he continues his career!
