A few MWC notes and Tuesday’s photos
Hopefully you’re all looking forward to yet another great Kilbogget MWC’18 evening as we prepare for yet another 53 great games in this great weather that we’re enjoying.
We’ve had some wonderful reaction to Tuesday’s games, including that of player Finbar Kavanagh of team Peru (nb: team photo already in! – well done!) who had been really looking forward to this year’s tournament. “We love the Mini World Cup,” says Finbar’s mum, Olivia. “Last year was our first taking part and again, this year, I’m already amazed by the volunteers, organisation and sheer scale of the event. It’s a credit to Cabinteely FC. We’re so glad it’s finally started.”
Our big focus on our girls’ teams has not gone unnoticed too: “I love the Mini World Cup so much – even if we lose,” says ten‐year‐old Emma Lamb (of team Nauru). Emma’s dad Michael agrees. “She has an absolute blast, and the rest of the girls clearly do too. The competition is so well run and it’s a great opportunity to chat with friends.”
Local newspaper, the Dún Laoghaire Gazette is also taking an interest in the event, so do keep an eye on it for MWC features.
Those of you involved will have noticed that Tuesday’s Estonia v Moldova score has been now been corrected and is reflected in the updated group league table. Thanks for bringing the error to our attention.
Our team photo page shows a great start (fifteen teams in) to our quest to obtain a photo of every MWC team. Just 91 to go… do take yours this evening and send it in. We wonder which group will be the first to complete?
Given the huge demands on the website on Tuesday, we’ve also boosted the resources available to it, so let’s hope that you won’t have and delays this evening as you seek the updates in your groups!
Finally, please enjoy a few photos taken last evening, also in the slide show below.
If you have any MWC-related queries, please note that the MWC Hotline, on 086 040 2002, is now fully operational.
A little to be going on with as we eagerly await this evening’s session!
