A memorable day for a memorable man!
The word ‘legend’  is often overused or misused in sporting terms but in the case of Michael ‘Locker’ Davis the word just fits perfectly.

Locker, the legendary kit man, will be rewarded for his great service to international football, the League of Ireland and to football in the Borough of Dún Laoghaire and the surrounding areas for almost forty years with a trio of testimonial matches in Stradbrook on Sunday, August 25, 2019.

First up at 2.00pm will be a match for the legends – League of Ireland Legends v Locker’s Legends. This will be followed at 3.30pm with Ladies Borough Selection v Ladies’ Legends. The final game of the trio, at 4.30pm, will see a League of Ireland Premier Selection take on a Cabo/Bray/TEK/Borough Selection.

The evening will be topped off with a special evening of music and entertainment in The Noggin Inn from 8.00pm ’til late.

Locker, who is in hospital at present, is a well-known and respected character in football circles and has served the game, clubs, the league and his country with loyalty, a sense of humour and much laughter since the late 1970s.

As kit man, he has worked with Irish international teams as well as League of Ireland representative teams and has served, with distinction, local clubs St. Joseph’s Boys AFC, TEK United FC, Bray Wanderers FC and latterly, Cabinteely FC, in all that time.

See poster below for all details. There’s also a Locker GoFundMe page set up for those who can’t make it and may wish to contribute to the testimonial fund.
