Kilbogget looking well

MU coaches delighted with course

After last July's successful course, the Manchester United Soccer School was delighted to be able to return to visit us in Kilbogget this year. The three-day course finished on Friday (July 24), with all 65 delighted players present for the final day's play and clubhouse presentations. Believe it or not, they managed to dodge most of the showers that we experienced during the three days!

MU coaches Richie, Lee, Andy and Eddie each had a group of players and chief coach Rob helped out throughout the week. At the presentation, all the coaches expressed their delight at how the course went and each was full of praise for the players and Cabo's support in general. Cabo organiser Danny McDonald was grateful to the coaches for their great way with the players and also thanked club Mums Sue, Belinda and Karen for their great work over the three days.

You'll notice in a couple of the pics that the players had to 'run the gauntlet' of the parents clapping as they departed the field before the final presentations.

Based on their assessments throughout the course, chief coach Rob awarded prizes for the overall winner of their Skills Challenge (Stephen Byrne) and observation of their Code of Conduct (Aidan Lauder). Well done to the lads - Stephen gets a vist to Old Trafford and an opportunity to play on the pitch, while Aidan wins two tickets to a Premier League game.

They also ran a competition to see who could best match their best-ever world team selection (not all MU players). Two of the players - Thomas Livingston (pictured) and Eoin Gannon - matched eight of the eleven and so romped off with the prizes!

So, well done to all - players, parents and coaches - for ensuring that everyone had a great three days! Let's hope that all the players get plenty of opportunity to exhibit their newly-honed skills during the upcoming season!

The course went so well that, for 2010, the MU organisers are considering running two courses with Cabo - do keep an eye on the website for details.
